Safeguarding Context / Safeguarding evidence
The evidence for harm outside a school's gate, written up every year.
For Designated Safeguarding Leads, trusts and governors. Safeguarding Context gathers the public evidence for one school and writes it into the documents the school uses it in. It describes the context; it never rates the school.
What it does
Statutory guidance asks schools to consider the risks their pupils face outside the family and outside the school, and inspectors look for a school that stays alert to them. Evidencing that means gathering around ten public sources for one school and relating each to the guidance. A capable safeguarding lead can do it by hand in a day or two per school; few have the time.
Safeguarding Context does that work for a named school. It leads with what children's services record across the authority, beside England, and adds the police record around the gate, the places pupils gather and the local safeguarding arrangements. Each requirement is quoted in the guidance's own words and each finding is traced to it, with the limits of the data stated.

The report and its paragraphs
A binder-ready PDF that sets out the evidence chapter by chapter and ends with the paragraph for the child protection policy, the paragraph for the governors' annual report and the inspector's questions, answered.
The staff briefing
One page for the all-staff safeguarding session: the area around the school, what to be alert to, and who to tell.
Dashboard and action log
The year's figures with charts and an export, and a log of what the school does about them. A trust sees every school it holds side by side, never ranked.

Safeguarding Context orders the police record around each school from UK Crime Statistics through a partner interface and places every school with GeoCode. The two services answer different questions: UK Crime Statistics describes places, Safeguarding Context describes a school's duties. It runs as a separate service with its own site, data and accounts, and counts below three are never printed, so nothing in a report points at a person.
